She Fought the Fight

We Will Always Remember & LOVE GAIL

In December 2016, Gail Hamilton was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

The prognosis for this type of cancer, with treatment, is about 9 months.

Gail fought and lived... really lived, in spite of the cancer, for 22 months.

On October 18, 2018, Gail left this life and ran into the arms of her Savior, Jesus.

Thousands of people have come to know Gail's story, and have been inspired, awe struck, moved and challenged by reading her blog, along with the blog of her husband, Don.  Gail, Don, and their family have been astounded by the impact their story has had on others, and there are no words to express how much your prayers and support have meant, and continue to mean to them.  You have held them up.

Legacy.

Gail's ministry and passion over the past few years has been Gail's Girls, a mission to educate, train,

and equip women leaders in Southeast Asia.  It was her desire to continue this ministry, and that is what we intend to do.  Below is a link to the Gail's Girls website where you can learn more and become part of Gail's Legacy.

Gail's blogs will be maintained on this site for all to read.  Don intends to continue sharing his journey.

Thank you for loving Gail!

Gail's Journey

We had been praying for me to be here for our daughter, Kristin’s and Mike’s, wedding.  It was a beautiful event and I was able to fully enjoy the day.  I’ll admit I was exhausted by the end, but so were a lot of people who were healthy! Weddings are a lo...

Don's Journey

Another day in our lives.  It is Labor Day 2018.  I’ve always enjoyed the fact that we don’t have to “labor” on Labor Day!  I digress.

Gail was unhooked from the chemotherapy pump yesterday afternoon after receiving the drugs all day Friday...

Don's Journey

We mark the progression of our lives through milestones.  Milestones are special places along the journey where we have stopped for few moments and recognized something important to us.  The experience may be joyful and wondrous, or, it may be sad and cont...

Gail's Journey

Some of you may have already heard that my cancer marker number increased by 20 points as of yesterday.  This is the highest we have seen it since chemotherapy brought it down near the beginning of treatment.  I’m having more swelling in my abdomen and le...

Gail's Journey

"Where do cats go in a drought?"  This is a question that was asked by my grandson, Finn, this week.  His mother, Rachel, shared the whole conversation. He said, "Where do cats go in a flood?" Rachel said, "They go to high ground, like mountains."  Then h...

Gail's Journey

So, I started to lose my balance on an escalator a few days ago.  I try to avoid having something in both hands anytime I’m on stairs, as I need to hold on to the railing to keep from falling, but I didn’t follow my own rule this time.  Don was with me an...

Don's Journey

Over the course of this journey with my wife, I have experienced a mentality that is sometimes exhausting.  Almost simultaneously, my heart and mind lead me in two opposing directions.  First, I want more than anything to keep the faith, to watch for Gail’...

Don's Journey - written on June 16

I am looking out across the white sands of Indian Shores to the beautiful green waters of the Gulf of Mexico.  The sound of the ocean is peaceful.  I hear it when I awaken several times each night, and each time it sounds the same.  It...

Gail's Journey

Wow!  Last week God blessed us with the surprise of finding out that my sonographer from December 16, 2016, has been praying for me since that time.  I wrote about it in my last blog.

This week, I received yet another blessing.  My sister, Julie, has...

Gail's Journey

I have been struggling lately about what to write in a blog.  Many of you know that my largest pancreatic tumor has grown.  However, on Friday the cancer markers were stable!  The tumor growth raises a lot of questions about the continued effectiveness of...
