She Fought the Fight

We Will Always Remember & LOVE GAIL

In December 2016, Gail Hamilton was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

The prognosis for this type of cancer, with treatment, is about 9 months.

Gail fought and lived... really lived, in spite of the cancer, for 22 months.

On October 18, 2018, Gail left this life and ran into the arms of her Savior, Jesus.

Thousands of people have come to know Gail's story, and have been inspired, awe struck, moved and challenged by reading her blog, along with the blog of her husband, Don.  Gail, Don, and their family have been astounded by the impact their story has had on others, and there are no words to express how much your prayers and support have meant, and continue to mean to them.  You have held them up.

Legacy.

Gail's ministry and passion over the past few years has been Gail's Girls, a mission to educate, train,

and equip women leaders in Southeast Asia.  It was her desire to continue this ministry, and that is what we intend to do.  Below is a link to the Gail's Girls website where you can learn more and become part of Gail's Legacy.

Gail's blogs will be maintained on this site for all to read.  Don intends to continue sharing his journey.

Thank you for loving Gail!

Gail's Journey

I am in a fight right now!  I received some news on Friday that was not very good. Unfortunately, the primary pancreatic tumor almost doubled in size.  The CT scan also showed some soft tissue changes in the mass, even though there may be fluid changes in...

Gail’s Journey

I am sitting in our family room looking at a foot of snow! How can this be?  It started snowing yesterday, which was the first day of spring!  This does not meet my expectations of sunshine and warmer temperatures.  When it comes...

Don's Journey

Yesterday, Gail and I returned from a few days at the Exponential Conference in Orlando.  I’ve always enjoyed this conference because it is all about church planting and the seats are filled with brave young men and women who will charge the gates of hell...

Gail's Journey

I love to ski, although I have not done so for several years now.  With this cancer I cannot ski anymore.  I shutter now just to think about being in the cold as the chemotherapy has made me so cold sensitive.  Don and I have some great memories of skiing...

Don's Journey

I want to provide a quick update on our situation.  Since Gail did not have the chemotherapy treatment yesterday, we enjoyed an early dinner with friends yesterday afternoon.  Since she will not be ill with chemo this weekend, we want to take advantage of...

Don's Journey

It is 1:00 am Friday morning.  I am sitting in my recliner, alone in our family room.  I just silenced the television and the room is very quiet.  A few hours ago, Gail and I were in Lancaster with two of our daughters, enjoying dinner and a show at the Fu...

Gail's Journey

With this cancer I have realized how important it is for me to keep moving forward; whether this be forcing myself to get up and put one foot in front of the other on a bad day after chemotherapy, or battling negative thoughts and attitudes, or continuing...

Don's Journey

So, we just got home from vacation in Florida.  It was 68 degrees when we left and 38 degrees when we arrived home.  I kind of feel like 38 degrees.  There is an old saying that goes like this, “You can run but you just can’t hide.”  Gail and I have tried...

Gail's Journey

For those of you who are fans of old western films, you will recognize "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly" as an old western from 1966, directed by Sergio Leone that starred the following trio:

Clint Eastwood as "Blondie" (a.k.a. the Man with No Name) –brand...

Don's Journey

I wrote this entry last week before Christmas, but have just decided to publish these difficult words.  We celebrated Christmas and were very thankful that Gail was here to join us!  As suspected, I got over my anger and have moved forward.  Life is someti...
