She Fought the Fight

We Will Always Remember & LOVE GAIL

In December 2016, Gail Hamilton was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

The prognosis for this type of cancer, with treatment, is about 9 months.

Gail fought and lived... really lived, in spite of the cancer, for 22 months.

On October 18, 2018, Gail left this life and ran into the arms of her Savior, Jesus.

Thousands of people have come to know Gail's story, and have been inspired, awe struck, moved and challenged by reading her blog, along with the blog of her husband, Don.  Gail, Don, and their family have been astounded by the impact their story has had on others, and there are no words to express how much your prayers and support have meant, and continue to mean to them.  You have held them up.

Gail's ministry and passion over the past few years has been Gail's Girls, a mission to educate, train,

and equip women leaders in Southeast Asia.  It was her desire to continue this ministry, and that is what we intend to do.  Below is a link to the Gail's Girls website where you can learn more and become part of Gail's Legacy.

Gail's blogs will be maintained on this site for all to read.  Don intends to continue sharing his journey.

Thank you for loving Gail!

Dear Friends,

It has been many months since I have written anything on the Gail’s Girls Page.  Much has taken place in my life since that time. As I sit here in my writing chair in my living room, I am surrounded by people and objects that I love.  There are numerous pi...

Have you ever thought about the steps you take each day? Maybe you’re someone that has a fit bit and you keep track of how many steps you take. Maybe you’re someone who keeps track of your steps on your iPhone. Maybe you’re someone who, like me, rarely remembers to use...

My birthday is quickly approaching. I’ll be 32 years old come the end of September.  This time last year, we had just finished celebrating mom’s 60th birthday on August 21st.  For just over a month, I was exactly half my mother’s age.  It made me think about what I’ve...

Don's Journey

I am leaving today for southern Asia where I will teach a class of Gail’s Girls and speak at their graduation ceremony along with a mission team including my daughter Andrea.  I am honored and moved beyond words.  I hope first that this message will encour...

Don's Journey

Written on December 25, 2018 and then again on January 8, 2019.

I’m the first one up this chilly Christmas morning.  I didn’t sleep so well last night, but that is not uncommon the night before Christmas.  If you are reading this, you know that this is the...

Don's Journey

One of Gail’s “cancer buddies” died last week.

Your first day on chemotherapy, when you have been told all the good it might do will ultimately not matter, is like walking into a torture chamber and being tied to a table and then helplessly watching while...

Don's Journey

I am presently in the Friendly Skies at about 30,000 feet.  The journey from Baltimore to Denver is about three-and-a-half hours, then about two on to Missoula.  For the next week I will enjoy the Big Sky with my eldest sister and her husband.  Today marks...

Don's Journey

Tomorrow I will share Thanksgiving with my children and grandchildren.  Of course, Gail will not be there in body, but I am so thankful that Gail's essence was not a frail human body.  Her spirit and soul are alive and well and she will enjoy the best Than...

Don's Journey

Gail died two weeks ago yesterday. In one manner, it feels like an eternity since I’ve held her, and in another way, it feels like this is still just a really bad dream.  I spent much of the night last night having bad dreams.  I awakened again and again,...

Don's Journey

I hate waiting.  Waiting for just about anything makes me crazy.  I’m ready to check out, so I briskly walk up and down the check-out isle surveying my possibilities. Which clerk appears fastest?  Who has the least number of items in their basket?  Does th...
