She Fought the Fight

We Will Always Remember & LOVE GAIL

In December 2016, Gail Hamilton was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

The prognosis for this type of cancer, with treatment, is about 9 months.

Gail fought and lived... really lived, in spite of the cancer, for 22 months.

On October 18, 2018, Gail left this life and ran into the arms of her Savior, Jesus.

Thousands of people have come to know Gail's story, and have been inspired, awe struck, moved and challenged by reading her blog, along with the blog of her husband, Don.  Gail, Don, and their family have been astounded by the impact their story has had on others, and there are no words to express how much your prayers and support have meant, and continue to mean to them.  You have held them up.

Legacy.

Gail's ministry and passion over the past few years has been Gail's Girls, a mission to educate, train,

and equip women leaders in Southeast Asia.  It was her desire to continue this ministry, and that is what we intend to do.  Below is a link to the Gail's Girls website where you can learn more and become part of Gail's Legacy.

Gail's blogs will be maintained on this site for all to read.  Don intends to continue sharing his journey.

Thank you for loving Gail!

Don’s Journey

Last night, Gail and I had the treat of seeing one of our favorite performers, Joe Bonamassa, live at Hershey Theater.  The show was awesome!  It took several hours to hear well again, which means the volume was perfect for me.  We had the opportunity to t...

Don's Journey

I always learn something at my in-laws.  Gail and I have been married for thirty-four years and we’ve spent many hours at the Nevel farm near Altoona, Pennsylvania.  One could not ask for better in-laws.  They have shown me and my family uncompromising lov...

Don's Journey

My favorite amusement park ride is the roller coaster.  I always thought that an amusement park with nothing but two or three-dozen roller coasters would be awesome.  Let me just say this. Roller Coasters should be limited to theme parks, not daily life....

Don's Journey

Gail and I have chosen to be straightforward, open and honest with each other, our family, and our friends, through this process.  This approach has been very difficult at times, but I’ve got to tell you, it has allowed us to keep moving forward more smoot...

Don's Journey

I preached last Sunday for the first time in about a month.  The anticipation and preparation for the sermon was nerve racking.  Though I prepared most of the message last week, I still had some content to complete at the end of the week, along with the Po...

Don's Journey

Gail and I just arrived home from her second chemotherapy treatment.  This one took less time than last week’s treatment – only four hours.  I’m not superstitious, but this is supposed to be a day for bad luck.  So far, we’ve beat the odds.

Don’s Journey

I am writing thoughts about some of the early days of this ordeal before I lose them.  I thought of this at the time, but couldn’t do it.  As most would understand, one’s first reaction to this kind of news is utter shock, disbelief and wonder.  My mind wa...

Don’s Journey

Gail is presently receiving a liver biopsy for the clinical study in which she is participating.  They will also use tissue for other genetic testing that might help with treatment.  One never knows how long these appointments will take, so we come prepar...

Don's Journey

Gail and I are sitting in our hotel room in Harbor East Baltimore.  This is one of our favorite get away spots. We enjoy looking over the harbor and the fountain below us.  The sun is shining brightly and a chilly wind is howling between the buildings.  We...
